Export your PowerPoint Presentation as a Video

Before a recorded/narrated PowerPoint presentation can be uploaded to your DL course, it first needs to be converted to a video.

Recorded PowerPoint presentations and video files should not be uploaded directly to Moodle. They should be sent to your corresponding DL LMS Programme Management contact person.

If you are unsure of who that is please contact DL LMS Support at dl.it@unic.ac.cy.

To export your PowerPoint Presentation as a video follow the steps below:

  1. Open the recorded PowerPoint presentation and click File located at the upper-left of the programme. Click Export.

  2. From the list that is displayed, select Create a Video.

  3. On the right of the programme you will be presented with various settings that you can configure for your video:

    1. Video Quality: Select an appropriate video quality.
RECOMMENDED: Select either Full HD (1080p) or HD (720p)
NOTE: Higher quality video will result in a larger file size.

    2. Recorded Timings: Select to Use Recorded Timings and Narrations. If you select any other option then the resulting video will have no audio.

    3. Seconds spent on each slide: any slide that does not contain a recorded narration will be displayed for the indicated number of seconds before changing to the next slide.
      Default: 5 seconds
You may choose to increase this duration at your own discretion.

  4. Once you have adjusted the settings as needed, click Create Video. You will be prompted to select a location to save your video on your computer. Browse your computer and select a folder, then click Save.

You will then be able to view your presentation, but note that a Creating video progress bar appears at the bottom of the programme indicating the conversion progress:

You can press the X to cancel the conversion if needed.

  5. Once the bar fills and it no longer says Creating video then you will be able to find the video in the selected save location.
If the video file is not in the selected save location then the conversion process most likely failed. Please try converting again with a lower quality setting, no less than HD (720p).

  6. Send the PowerPoint file and the exported video file to your corresponding DL LMS Programme Management contact person, clearly indicating the Course Code and Week/Topic is belongs to and they will then upload it to the DL server and place a link in your course.
