Course Types
Project: indicate in the mappings each project type course. Even though there may be a mapping, students might not be enrolled automatically. Please request from the VLE team to “enroll class list” for the first 4 weeks to ensure that all the students have access to the course.
Independent Study: put _ind at the end of the short code.
Cancelled: if a course is ultimately cancelled after you create it, put _canc at the end of the sort code and make the course hidden.
MBA - English
There will typically only be one section of each course in Moodle (unless otherwise mentioned by the MBA office) using the code and title of the DL New path. All other sections from the various paths will be mapped to this one in Moodle.
Merged Courses
Several courses in the MBA English path will need to be merged.

MBA - Greek
There may be multiple sections of each course. If there are two or more sections of a course from the New DL path then the section from the Old DL path (if any) will always be mapped to Section 02 of the course in Moodle. If no Section 02 is available map it to Section 01.

Merging DL & F2F courses
Normal Merging
During Week 2 or 3 of each semester request from the MBA office a list of the MBA F2F courses that are Independent Study that will need to be merged with DL. The MBA office will inform you which sections to merge the F2F course in to.
Example, they will send you something like this:

Create a mapping for each merge and send to VLE. Ask them to “enroll class list” to make sure that students registered for in the course before the mapping are enrolled or enroll the students manually since there will be very few.
Manual Merging
You might have a case where you cannot make a mapping as they want to split the students between the Greek and English Sections. In this instance you will need to enroll each student manually and set an end date to their enrollment within Moodle else they will never be unenrolled.

Creation Process
It is best to do the Backup and Restore process to create the courses. This ensures that any assignment due dates and weekly restrictions are carried over and adjusted to the new course start date.
If a course has more than one section, only restore the material in the first section. If you want, you can create the additional sections (i.e. Section 2, 3, etc.) to generate the short codes, but leave them empty. Do not import any content into the other sections until you have confirmation from the lecturer that they have checked Section 1. This prevents the lecturer from having to make the same updates in multiple courses and reduces errors. Once you have their confirmation do a Backup and Restore of the updated Section 1 to the other sections.
Informing Lecturers about Course Creation
Once the courses from a programme are created the lecturers teaching in the current semester need to be notified.
On the DLFS (DLFS:\4MBA) you will find the template email that I send to the all the lecturers, MBAN DL English or Greek courses
Additionally, if a lecturer will offer a new course they need to be informed individually about this. The email template for this is located in the same folder as above, New MBA DL Course.
Julie Boyadjian and Angelika Kokkinaki should be copied on all communications to the lecturers at this time.
Course Structure
Academic Calendar
All the courses in the MBA have a 12 week structure plus 1 study week, like other DL courses and the conventional UNIC courses.
The only exceptions to this are the Foundation courses (MBAN-510, 520, 530). These courses are only 4 weeks long and have their exams between Weeks 5 and 7.
Weekly Restrictions in Courses
The following is a general rule that should apply to all MBA DL.
The only exception are the courses listed below which should have NO restrictions on weeks:

Each week should open on the Saturday before it commences.
EXAMPLE: Week 2 begins on Monday, 08 February. Students should be able to access the material from Saturday, 06 February.
This should be applied to ALL weeks within the course except those listed below. The weeks below should not have any restrictions on them and should be visible throughout the semester.

Final Exams
If within the Semester Breaks, Study Week or Final Exam Weeks there is material or activities for the students, then the material and activities should have restrictions placed on then as indicated above (i.e. open the Saturday prior to the week starting).
This can be done using the Restrict Access settings for the week. Ensure that the eye is crossed so that the students are only able to view the week on the specified date.
Special Cases
Some lecturers do not want to have the material released week-by-week, but instead prefer to release several weeks at a time. For existing courses, the lecturers that have this preference are set up in Moodle already, so, when you backup and restore the course just view the weekly restrictions that are already there (and adjust for the Semester Break).
