How to Disable Pop-Up Blockers

This guide teaches you how you can disable pop-up blockers while using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer.

Pop-up windows, or pop-ups, are windows that appear automatically without your permission. Some websites, including some University of Nicosia sites, use pop-ups for important features. Blocking all pop-ups disables such features. To allow specific websites to use pop-ups, while still blocking all others, you can add those specific websites to the list of allowed sites.

Google Chrome

Step 1

Click the browser menu, located in the upper-right, then select “Settings”.


 Step 2

At the bottom of the page, clickAdvanced”.


 Step 3

Under "Privacy and security," click Content settings”.


Step 4

Afterwards, click Popups”.


Step 5

Under Allow click Add. In the field provided type the following: [*.]unic.ac.cy

Click Add, this will allow all popups from University of Nicosia services to be allowed to display.  


Mozilla Firefox

Step 1

Click the browser menu, located in the upper-right, then select Options”.


Step 2

Select the “Privacy & Security” panel on the right.


 Step 3

Scroll down, under the Permissions section, click Exceptions... next to Block pop-up windows.


 Step 4

Under Address of website, add the following address: https://www.studentintranet.unic.ac.cy/. Then click “Allow” to add the website to the exception list and then click onSave Changes

 


Internet Explorer

Step 1

Find and click on the ‘Internet options’ button.


 Step 2

Click on the ‘Privacy’ panel and deactivate the option ‘Turn on Pop-up Blocker’. You can re-activate the pop-up blocker in the future by following the same procedure.
