On occasion when a Mac user shares their screen, viewers are only able to see a gray screen or only the desktop. This issue occurs when the Screen Recording privilege is not provided to the specific software/programme. This issue can be seen when using the following programmes:

  1. Teamviewer

  2. Webex

To resolve the issue and allow users to view your shared screen follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Apple icon located at the upper-left of the screen and menu that is displayed click System Settings.

  2. This will display the System Preferences window. From here, select Privacy & Security.

  3. Locate the Screen Recording option from the list provided on the right. Select it and you should see WebeX listed on the right.

  4. If you cannot locate Webex in your list, click on the plus sign.

In case you enable Webex from the list below, you must quit WebEx and re-open it to be able to share your screen.

  1. Locate the application WebEx and select it to Open.

  1. Close the settings and resume your session.

RECOMMENDED: To avoid any other potential issues while using Webex on a Mac, it is recommended that you repeat the above process and enable WebEx under Microphone and Accessibility.

The above procedure can be followed to allow a user to share their screen via Teamviewer.
